Some more...
Latrell
Durrell
And it always cracks me up those white girls that have mixed babies and they go and name them some off-the-wall ghetto name. Lol.

Jalondra, Shaqueay
Why does it usually seem to be girls who have the most or more ghetto names?

Post 13 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Thursday, 26-Nov-2009 5:36:33

Ayisha, Shavantay, Ashanti, Strange. Her name was Strange, I kid you not, but it was pronounced Stronjay. And Amani, which to me sounds very pretty but more Hawaiian than ghetto.

Post 30 by Sword of Sapphire (Whether you agree with my opinion or not, you're still gonna read it!) on Saturday, 28-Nov-2009 17:32:27

Are you sure that those names, Yasmine and Yessica, are not spelled with a j? In some languages, j makes the consonant y sound, so these parents could just be using the pronunciation, not the letter.
The sad thing about these extremely ghetto names is that, eight or nine times out of ten, you can tell what class or kind of neighborhood or community people with these names grew up in, and in turn, when these people apply for a well-paying job or position, many of them are not even considered for a position, turned down for jobs, or looked down upon when they get a job. Names like this could also come with other consequences. Their parents may think it's cute or sounds cool or sweet, but some of those names are really resentful, especially in the long run..

Post 31 by torian princess (The original Blakanadian.) on Saturday, 28-Nov-2009 17:56:33

you said it, I'm pretty sure the girls who's names start with Y might be spanish, where the Y makes the J sound.

Names are just getting more exotic or ignorantly creative. Some of them are cute, while others just make people think that your mom got a little too happy when she found out she was pregnant. And whose father ever actually let these names slide and believe they're cool is just as much as a bad parent as the mother. Why would you do that to your child!?

Post 71 by torian princess (The original Blakanadian.) on Wednesday, 23-Dec-2009 23:35:21

One of the things I can't stand is when they decide it's a good idea to name their baby girls after the father because then you hear names like Kevineesha

lol, female.

Post 83 by hi5 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 01-Jan-2010 4:43:42

OMG the funniest part of hearing these names is the way our robotic voices further butcher the pronunciation. Hahahahaha! I'll try my best to spell these the way they're meant to be heard. I know a guy named Quan dell. This rapper's name is Ra kim. Met some guy named la keem. This little boy's name is Ray shawn. Here are some girl names.

Va deesha, Na zaya, taneesha, Tameesha, Qua asia, ca jahna, Star eesha, Vondra, Kishma, Denetta from a Terry Mcmillan book, Toy omi from an Eric Jerome Dickie book. Might as well called her Toyota, ty leethia from this commedian from Comic View. Probably made it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone was inspired and named their kid that. Taaj neeka (probably a girl but not sure) and Dayja.
My brother's friend's name is Ra heem.

Ghetto names got nothin' on their nicknames for them though. kee kee for keesha, laylay for some name like talayja, that Ray shawn's nickname is ray ray, booboo, Pooky, I could imagine Queen La t fa's nickname was something like lala, Qualla for Qua asia, don't remember the girl's name but her nickname was nonny. My friend's brother's nickname is kway kway.

Post 89 by Grecia (Newborn Zoner) on Friday, 01-Jan-2010 23:56:58

All righty!! Here we go from growing up in the hood of Atlanta. LOL
First of all, Shaparadise is spelled like the paradise word, except with a sha in front of it.
In my math class, I hung out with Aleesia, (pronounced Aleeceea), Teshia, (pronounced taSheea,) TaShan, (Pronounced Tay Sean.)
Then, there were those odd ones like TayQuan, Shaquana, TyQuan, um, there were these 2 girls in my biology class named Shandrelle and Shanquivia. And my friend Bianca spelled her name Beunca, I thought that was a mess.
Then, there was Kale, pronounced KaLay, Satorial, a guy in my band class named Uriah. And, the worst.. the girl in my French class named Sparkles.
Um, there was someone that claims they knew a girl named La-a, pronounced Ladasha.
On his facebook, my friend's cousin has a Kendrica. There was a girl at my elementary school named Bratterica..
Oh, and there were some random oddlings in one of my classes named TyShawn and DeAnthony. And some poor ghetto soul actually had the name Persephone. Yes, like the goddess of the underworld..
In my math class when I was a freshman, there were the D's and a girl named Larecia, pronounced Lareeseea, whom they called Reecy. Which, was really confusing as there was a guy they called Reecey as well, but his name was Tarice, pronounced TerReece or something like that. Anyway, the D's stood for D'Andra, Dee'Erris, D'Enasia, and Destiny.
Oh, and the black girls in my early childhood education class.. Amore, pronounced Ammorray, Yasmeen, spelled that way on purpose, Kemisha, which I think was mentioned, and, Iyah, pronounced IYa.. That was one of those other ones..
All right, think this is enough for now..

Post 90 by torian princess (The original Blakanadian.) on Friday, 01-Jan-2010 23:58:57

Way back in the scroll someone mentioned Fatima. That's actually Arabic, like Shabanu and Phulan and Haveli, I've seen them in books. Fatima might be Indian too, like Lakshmi and Nalini and Parvati. There's a Vashti too, not sure where its origins are though. But the Fatima you heard might have sounded like Fa-tee-mah, where this was Fah-timma.

Post 142 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Wednesday, 17-Mar-2010 1:22:53

Actually it might not be Arabic, maybe more Indian or something. Comes from somewhere Eastern, I know that. I'll look it up.

Some 'ghetto' names are perfectly legitimate Arabic (Tariq, Rashida) names, others are Hebrew in their origin, like one girl I knew some years ago named 'Tamika'. I kind of pity kids with monikers like DeShaun, Keisha, one ignorant mom even named her daughter 'Shaytanya'. 'Shaytan' in Arabic is Satan. I just can't see wanting to identify myself with a rough and tumble neighborhood or single female headed households, some with multiple sperm donors.

Any and everyone have your barf buckets ready? Good good...ok, here goes. Any of you sports fans remember a Tampa Bay Buccaneer gone San Francisco 49er named Curtis Buckley? I used to work with a skank who became pregnant by him to manipulate a marriage, and surprise surprise it didn't work. Poor child's ghetto name? Martavious Devon, pronounced 'de VON'. Blech...

I heard the name Tiani today.

Post 236 by Darth Vader (Luke, I am your father.) on Thursday, 01-Jul-2010 7:55:11

wow. that sounds pretty ghetto, but it can't compare with some of the other names list on this board.
Or maybe this one: Unitedstatesofamericanicia?

Post 237 by torian princess (The original Blakanadian.) on Thursday, 01-Jul-2010 11:53:07

that's not an actual name of a person, is it? Lordy.

Pass the gag bags...an unfortunately dead child whose name was "Liquarry". Egg donor lived with her five kids by three different dads, and little Liquarry was acidentally I guess shot to death by cousin. Egg donor seemed more relieved to be acquitted of charges in his murder than in the fact that her son was dead. Liquarry?! What the (bleep) kind of name is that? Maybe we need a baby naming law in this country, like in Denmark, where a parent's name choice may be rejected & said parents need to go back to the drawing board.

others i've herd: zequisha (pronounced za qwe sha) laria (la ria)
Shit, I think i've figured out how people doo this shit.
Ok, think of shake and bake chicken/porkchops.
The first thing people have to choose in their minds when makeing these names is how long/the structure or "flow" will be.
Next, they drop this into their mind, like the chicken/pork/beefe into a bag of shake and bake, mix well and...

See what ever the fuck comes out.

Tiani's actually sorta pretty. I met a girl named Liani once.
Martavious Devon...just, oh my god, that poor kid.
Oh, my god spongebob. That's really sad. I feel sorry for that poor little girl. I'm not usually superstitious but that child is either going to be pure fucking evil or have the worst luck imaginable.
And poor little kid, can you imagine, Liquarry...
Oh james lmaoo just, wow.
I might have mentioned this before but I met this kid who's actual name, I kid you not, was Dominique Kahlilikani.
......
......
wow. where's that from?

Some years ago, working near Tampa's "Suitcase City" neighborhood, where a lot of black folk live, I had a female co-worker whose out of wedlock son was named "Javaris". Especially amusing since I heard it pronounced "Jabarry". All I could think is What is he, a child or an elephant? It sounds like the old "Babar the Elephant" books my kid brother read.

My sister's roommate's name is Luba. What the fuck?

Post 251 by squidwardqtentacles (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 24-Nov-2010 18:17:32

"Tamara" is a Hebrew name in the Old Testament. I kind of like it, most common nickname for this one is "Tammy".

Luba? Add an "i" after the b and you'll have the Arabic name for a bean soup or stew. I think but don't hold me to it "lubia" means "beans" in that language. That was the same thought I had when I saw the name "Liuba".

Of all the ghetto names I've heard, this one takes the cake: Zaire. That's right a boy born Friday and given the name of a defunct third world nation robbed blind by its dictator, now the 'Democratic Republic of the Congo'. Zaire. ?!?! I could see the Arabic, 'Zahir', which means 'great' or 'grand', but Zaire?! Blech...

I've heard Shatanya, Lashanda, Shaniqua (pronounced shaneequa), and deja (pronounced dasia)
I've probably heard a lot more, but can't think of them at the moment.

Maybe this doesn't really count since it's not an actual name, but there's a woman named Elizabeth at work who some of us sometimes call ElizzleBizzle.

Post 260 by CrazyCapricorn (I lost my conscience! Anyone seen it?) on Saturday, 09-Apr-2011 15:06:11

Post 261 by squidwardqtentacles (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 09-Apr-2011 20:33:54

Deja...excuse me while I die laughing. Did the mom who gave her daughter this name know it means "already" in French, like "Deja vu", or "already seen"? Another one I heard actually isn't that bad in Arabic, the name "Farida" or "Farid" for the boys means "unique". But translate the name to English? I thought the name "Unique" sounded stupid when I met a woman by that name.

Post 262 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2011 21:24:07

All the new black girl names ending with icia or eesha or whatever; Laticia, Lateesha, Verniicia, etc., to me all sound like names of exotic bird species.
Some from the ghettos do have more the raucous sound of a psitocene (parrot) as well, though I doubt you see them cracking palm nuts with their beaks.

Post 263 by CrazyCapricorn (I lost my conscience! Anyone seen it?) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2011 21:54:19

hahaha. And no, I didn't know that's what Deja meant.

These poor ladies and gentlemen. My friend's husband threatened to name their first daughter...lol...hoo deefia! But seriously, some of these names sound like the medications you see comercials about; you know, with more side effects than benefits? They should just give in and name their daughter cymbalta ginkgobiloba Jackson!

Post 266 by luckyluc20 (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 05-Aug-2011 13:47:51

I didn't read every one of the posts, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating some names.

To the person who thought the name Luba was strange, in Eastern europe it can be the diminutive for Lubomira, the feminine of Lubomir, which happens to be the name of my cat and who I usually call Lubo for short, or Loob for very short.

I have a friend in England who works for a women's shelter, and she was telling me that one day she was talking to a client who mentioned that she named her daughter Chlamydia because she liked the sound of it! Maybe her next kid will be named gonorrhea!

I once had a boss who was a real bitch named Waridi. People called her Ree-Ree, but I called her Ree-Tard!

I knew of a girl named Quanadeous who went by Kwan-Aide, also of a girl named Nafateria. Worked with a woman named Sikeithea, but she wanted to be known as Toni. Can't say I blame her…

Post 267 by LittleSneezer (The Zone-BBS is my prison, but I like it here.) on Friday, 05-Aug-2011 21:13:09

Chlamydia? Seriously? I can't even imagine how much psychological damage that name will cause the poor girl as she grows up.
