Category: Let's talk
I love really ghetto names, they amuse me, things like Latefia and Rohondra make me smile. so, share! What are some you've heard?
lacreesha
like, when they take a name that is all ready getto and then try andmake it more getto.
like: lacreesha
lacreesha-ri-ra
or I herd ta-loosh-le-la one time or teff-nog-wa
wow
Shanaynay. lmao that just makes me laugh.
says Aiana, love it!
Shaniqua
Shatonda, Afasia and Shahira
i know a girl named roshonda
Laniqua
Makeesha
Laqueesha
Rashida
Davontay
Nyeesha
Kameesha
Tysheeka
Lavontay
There are some ghetto names that are really pretty to me, but some are just plain hilarious.
Some more...
Latrell
Durrell
And it always cracks me up those white girls that have mixed babies and they go and name them some off-the-wall ghetto name. Lol.
Jalondra, Shaqueay
Why does it usually seem to be girls who have the most or more ghetto names?
Ayisha, Shavantay, Ashanti, Strange. Her name was Strange, I kid you not, but it was pronounced Stronjay. And Amani, which to me sounds very pretty but more Hawaiian than ghetto.
lmfao watch this till the end

sorry don't know how to make it a link
kasheeka Katura
latasia
oh i know a guy named yrral pronounced yerrell
I know 2 girls named Finesse and Quashonna.
quiana
Quantrell and Quantrief Clautrisha
Merika
Lishonda. We have a guy in our church named Devine, pronounced like Divine, but if you say it like that, his mom gets mad, and she insists it's D-Vine! I knew a Yasmine, too. Like why couldn't they have just named the poor girl Jasmine? Come on, people! Yasmine?
I know a guy named Kewane, and he's gay apparently..
Yessica and Syesha Akeesha and Nikeesha
I've heard Yessica, too. What's the fixation with Y in the ghetto?
you're asking the wrong person, sir.
Well, do some research. Haha!
lol, certainly not. I also heard the name Tameeshielle[not sure if that's actually how you spell it, but that's what it sounded like]
Yessica! The poor girl! Anyway...
Clautrisha? Man, If I was named Clautrisha, I wouldn't be alive right now. lol
Are you sure that those names, Yasmine and Yessica, are not spelled with a j? In some languages, j makes the consonant y sound, so these parents could just be using the pronunciation, not the letter.
The sad thing about these extremely ghetto names is that, eight or nine times out of ten, you can tell what class or kind of neighborhood or community people with these names grew up in, and in turn, when these people apply for a well-paying job or position, many of them are not even considered for a position, turned down for jobs, or looked down upon when they get a job. Names like this could also come with other consequences. Their parents may think it's cute or sounds cool or sweet, but some of those names are really resentful, especially in the long run..
you said it, I'm pretty sure the girls who's names start with Y might be spanish, where the Y makes the J sound.
Hmmm, I don't really consider any names really ghetto. Sure I've heard some of these before...
Oh, I don't know if these count, because I don't even know the difference, but...
Ronesha.
oh, trust me, it counts.
Laquinta. not sure if I spelled that one right, but hey ...
wow. Althavion
Shaheeda[apparently it was a boy], Tariq
One of my best friends said she wanted to name her child Pop Pants Johnson.
the hell for?
Um ... y does not make the j sound in Spanish. It does in some other European languages, but not that one. Oh, and if it does, please give me an example or two.
how about this one: Tyquasia.
lordy. though I did hear the name TyEesha
My x gf has a cousin named boquisha. I was like oh my god really?
that's like Bonqueesha, witch is another name I've heard. along with Bonquavia
wow; lol. Latrice...don't think that has been mentioned.
Myanna and DyShawn
i've heard way to many, i know a guy named kayree pronounced kyree
Quintina
Uniqua, Rolonda, Zora and Ottohello.
Tondra pronounced T-Ondra.
Shaparadice and Yoveneequa
The other day I heard these names: Fatima and Christisha. What on this polluted planet?!
Fatima is a middle eastern name, I think, I knew one. But Christisha, I have no earthly idea. though I did read the name Earleatha yesterday.
I also heard the name Usamah yesterday
Oh, I forgot to mention in my prior post that I really like the name Latrice. It's not as ghetto as some of these other names here, but it is nonetheless. I think it's pretty though.
I like Latrice as well, actually. along with Thaydra
so I just heard duricka. Also pondra.
pondra? why?
Stasha
Keondra and roshonda
oh, wow
Yeah, that's what I said, especially to the second one. I just heard that one today when my mother was on the phone with a car company. That was the name of the representative she was contacting.
Zedikai, Zodora
Shyia, Shyla Lashya pronounced LaShya
Sharrie, I can tell you're having the blast of all time with this thread. lol
you know it!
My sister works a desk job at her college and told me that she talked to a woman named Jacroma today. What the hell was that woman's mother thinking!? That is such an ugly name! It sounds like a foreign swear word. lol
no way! Jacroma? Dang!
I just finished watching judge pero and here are the names I came across.
Markeda, Saneri, Tonita and Anaya
correction, the name was Sanari
Names are just getting more exotic or ignorantly creative. Some of them are cute, while others just make people think that your mom got a little too happy when she found out she was pregnant. And whose father ever actually let these names slide and believe they're cool is just as much as a bad parent as the mother. Why would you do that to your child!?
One of the things I can't stand is when they decide it's a good idea to name their baby girls after the father because then you hear names like Kevineesha
Letasha and Jamari
TayShawn and LaFred
Shaquandralia, Turnisha, Lushadrisha, Shanquita
Raven, you made all those up! you had to!
I didn't make any of those up. You'd be surprised what names you'll find working in Detroit.
I get them from my sister who works at her college. She could be making them up; a couple of them really sound like it.
lord, that's insanity!
QuayShawn and SheLevontay
zakia and Tamicha
I'm not sure how to spell those two, I heard them on TV.
Jantrell and Lavonda
That first one is extremely ugly.
Is that a male or female name?
lol, female.
OMG the funniest part of hearing these names is the way our robotic voices further butcher the pronunciation. Hahahahaha! I'll try my best to spell these the way they're meant to be heard. I know a guy named Quan dell. This rapper's name is Ra kim. Met some guy named la keem. This little boy's name is Ray shawn. Here are some girl names.
Va deesha, Na zaya, taneesha, Tameesha, Qua asia, ca jahna, Star eesha, Vondra, Kishma, Denetta from a Terry Mcmillan book, Toy omi from an Eric Jerome Dickie book. Might as well called her Toyota, ty leethia from this commedian from Comic View. Probably made it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone was inspired and named their kid that. Taaj neeka (probably a girl but not sure) and Dayja.
My brother's friend's name is Ra heem.
Ghetto names got nothin' on their nicknames for them though. kee kee for keesha, laylay for some name like talayja, that Ray shawn's nickname is ray ray, booboo, Pooky, I could imagine Queen La t fa's nickname was something like lala, Qualla for Qua asia, don't remember the girl's name but her nickname was nonny. My friend's brother's nickname is kway kway.
oh, wow...just...wow
I'm sure some of those guy names you mentioned were Muslim or Indian.
But those girls names! ... They were just downright ghetto and couldn't be ghettoer. lol
oh, my...
is this why we have suthern white supremacy practices by some people? jk jk jk
James, just, no.
Not funny, buddy.
All righty!! Here we go from growing up in the hood of Atlanta. LOL
First of all, Shaparadise is spelled like the paradise word, except with a sha in front of it.
In my math class, I hung out with Aleesia, (pronounced Aleeceea), Teshia, (pronounced taSheea,) TaShan, (Pronounced Tay Sean.)
Then, there were those odd ones like TayQuan, Shaquana, TyQuan, um, there were these 2 girls in my biology class named Shandrelle and Shanquivia. And my friend Bianca spelled her name Beunca, I thought that was a mess.
Then, there was Kale, pronounced KaLay, Satorial, a guy in my band class named Uriah. And, the worst.. the girl in my French class named Sparkles.
Um, there was someone that claims they knew a girl named La-a, pronounced Ladasha.
On his facebook, my friend's cousin has a Kendrica. There was a girl at my elementary school named Bratterica..
Oh, and there were some random oddlings in one of my classes named TyShawn and DeAnthony. And some poor ghetto soul actually had the name Persephone. Yes, like the goddess of the underworld..
In my math class when I was a freshman, there were the D's and a girl named Larecia, pronounced Lareeseea, whom they called Reecy. Which, was really confusing as there was a guy they called Reecey as well, but his name was Tarice, pronounced TerReece or something like that. Anyway, the D's stood for D'Andra, Dee'Erris, D'Enasia, and Destiny.
Oh, and the black girls in my early childhood education class.. Amore, pronounced Ammorray, Yasmeen, spelled that way on purpose, Kemisha, which I think was mentioned, and, Iyah, pronounced IYa.. That was one of those other ones..
All right, think this is enough for now..
Oh, Grecia...thak you! Although, I like the name persephone
That was enough? That seemed like too much to absorb. And I like the name Persephone too.
In the VI classroom I was in when I lived in Detroit, there were these girls named Kadija, Shantanique, and Shaquida.
I can't believe this board is still going. I guess it goes to show that people will go to any lengths for their children to have "unique" names.
Caronda is a girl's name, Sippio is a guy's.
zuh naya, sih cory, uh dowa, shuh maury, Tuh shawna, and shola.
What about names of places or times? Like Asia, Africa, April, May and June?
April, May and June aren't so bad, but places...not so cool in my book.
Just can't get over Fried Chickeneesha! Lol! I hope to God nobody has ever named their baby Fried Chickeneesha or Clitorisonia.
I'm sure they have, saddly. I mean if they're ok with naming their children after alcohol, there's no hope, I'd think.
SuhMya, UhMya, and Ceedra.
heard this one on an episode of the show Birthday. Jalela. (pronounced Jalayla)
oh, wow...
There was a girl in one of my classes named De-Ja'nee. Pronounced Day Ja Nay...and yes there's an apostrophe in her name...
no one's name should contain an apostraphy. That is all.
Risha pronounced riesha and her friend, gidget
Gidget?! Oh, hell no! That name needs to be avoided like a car accident.
Oh, I know.
TyQuaysia; not sure if I've mentioned that one yet.
Todrick
Lakendra.
Nakoya, camaya, shacoya
Tamyra, but I like it.
Tashica, Labrisha, Shandriqua, Tatisa
What the hell! Those are some of my friend's cousins names. If that's not reidiculous, I don't know what is!
I hear that, Raven. I just heard the name Mishade. I don't know if that's how you spell it, sounded like Mish Ade. I hav no idea what to make of it.
I heard the name Arian this morning...
LaRhonda, Kameeka, Latricia.
Silvania and Lereka, a mother and daughter.
tawana, tah taneesha lol.
Shareefa.
hmmm, I guess I've heard almost all of these names...my brother's name is nyzia (pronounced nyja) close friend named niladga, some might think my child's name is o's my name and her father's name backward take the C out of my name and her name is Akiré semaj (pronounced semauj)...I know a ed-nika, cliff-shauna my brother says he knows a girl named la-a (ladasha)
and that is supposed to be *odd I don't know what happened to jaws when i was typing the previous thread
LeDayday
Nisharetta.
Keyvontay and Talayah both heard today on a court show.
Omarion.
Oh my grapes, I know! Sometimes, I hear some quite really very ghetto names on court shows or talkshows. It's quite hilarious!
Today on Judge Mathess, there was this woman named Cinquinta. Just wow!
definetly wow!
Zola, ny eela and danealla, all heard on court shows this morning.
Nasia
Navy Talia.
Oh, my grapes! Now, that is just unreasonable!
yeah...one of my favorite singers Nivea named her daughter that.
I heard the name DarVon on a court show the other day.
Today when I was watching the Tyra Banks show, I heard the names Lanika and Sachet. Just ... wow! Especially to the second one.
I heard the name Tylinda on divorce court today. and deff wow to that second one, Raven!
ITeesha and Sherrod
That second one is a guy's name, right? Nevertheless, it's as ugly as a snaggle-toothed, bearded woman with breasts on her back.
rofl, it is and it is!
I heard the name ZyEesha today.
Zyeesha! That sounds like a quality ghetto name. lol
it certainly does.
Way back in the scroll someone mentioned Fatima. That's actually Arabic, like Shabanu and Phulan and Haveli, I've seen them in books. Fatima might be Indian too, like Lakshmi and Nalini and Parvati. There's a Vashti too, not sure where its origins are though. But the Fatima you heard might have sounded like Fa-tee-mah, where this was Fah-timma.
Actually it might not be Arabic, maybe more Indian or something. Comes from somewhere Eastern, I know that. I'll look it up.
Yep, I was right, Fatima/Fatimah is Arabic.
Yeah, I'm sure most of these names we believe are ghetto originate in Africa, or come from Arabic or Native American names. But they are just so uncommon, unique, and unusual these days.
You might run into one Lanisha in your life, but you can never meet enough Jessicas.
Striker, that was great.
Sparkles? are you freaking kidding me? Were their parents high or something? wait, don't answer that.
1
Ahaha lol that was supposed to go in the "go to" box. sorry.
not sure if I mentioned the guy on american idol, Todrick. Who could sing, but seriously? Todrick? I couldn't believe it!
I swear I heard the name LeKima today
Zaneeba and Tanay
Zaneeba! lmao really!
Sativa pronounced (sateeva), shavonne, shaleah (which I kinda like), and I actually know a girl named Shaquita (pronounced shaqueeta)
Lawana and Nikimah
Yesterday, my mother and sister were talking about this girl my sister works with named Colondra. That's an ugly ass ghetto name! It sounds like she smacks her lips after every other word. lol
that is horrible!
Lokanda and martesa
Zuban
Lokanda and Zuban? Oh no! You know, both those names sound like medication. lol
I never thought about that, but you're right, lol!
Nabila and suh mah
lol, post 146, for a second I thought that was another ghetto name.
There was this girl at a blind camp I went to way back named Shadonna. And her aunt was named Shrdonna, I kid you not. I had a friend who's little sister's named Shardonay. My roommate's grandmother's name was, I'll try to spell this, Armanaige. The ending's pronounced like beige.
Nabila sounds like a body part.
And Hrdonna is a devil-awful name!
Lakeisha ,Roshawnda, LaToya, Danika, Shacotta, Leeisha, Ebony, Rochelle, Ouluchi, Shardae, Marquetta, LaTasha, Tamika, Katrice & Necee. I went to scool wit all of them...
Loriella, I just saw it on someone's facebook.
ShuhRon (pronounced Sharron);.
Shurron? Okay, that is superultramega-ghetto! Just ... wow! is that a guy or a girl's name?
Jywanza, I kid you not
That's got to be one of the ugliest so far!
Another ghetto one I've heard. Kimya.
Keishon... Tanzanetta... Unika...
Ulikani. Though I think Ulikani might have been Arabic.
Ebony's pretty, I think.
And I was friends with this little girl named Tashika. Her older sister Shellonda locked me in a closet once for eight hours, she was supposed to be babysitting us and Dad got worried when I didn't come back when he was off work. Tashika ran to get my dad and her father beat her for telling my father what Shellonda did...Boy it was a mess....
Tanzanetta? Unika? Wow! Will people stop at nothing?
ShuhRon was a girl's name...the ghetto version of Sharron, I guess. lol.
whatever the cause, it's a world of "Oh hell to the nah!"
I heard FahRuke recently.
ShuhRon! FahRruke! Fuckin A! What next?
Come to think of it, the "FahRuke" might actually be Farouq. Purely Arabic. That's interesting, discovering how many people have Arabic-descended names.
Kryztera and Naima
Needra
WillThina and Nataki. Though I think Nataki sounds african.
Makaya.
For christ sakes just name the damn bitches uterus, cliterus and unitedstatesofamericaisha
Lol to the last post!
Kethea
There's a girl in my poli sci class and her name's nabila. she's indian
I was surprised the singer Kesha was white..ghetto but pretty name.
Labariniqua? hahaha oh man
I'm still not over clautrisha
some of my cousin's: Nazia (Nazz-ee-a) Keshan, Shaquille, Neshan (nee-shawn), Aliyah, Seema, Reva, shariffa..lol some sound ghetto but their not..other ghetto names i've heard and weren't mentioned yet Labron Leroy, Leveronique..yeah ghetto
variq
Keshawndra, not sure if it was mentioned already.
Taquieshia. And I kid you not, Shatannalikia.
that's an entire world of wrong, right there!
I know really, I was afraid to address her, for fear of having to say "Shatannalikia" without making a mistake lol.
Two of the cooks at a diner I go to are named Sherita and Jamall.
wow, somethese names are quite...interesting, to say the least. But I do think that the name destony is very pretty, as is the name melody.
Oh, and Natasha.
Marila. lol
Quileesha and Quishaanda
Quileesha? Really? Wow!
Ganaisha, or something similar-sounding. Man Ganaisha is all kinds of ugly! lol
And Jinayvra...is that the ghetto version of Jennifer? lmao
Lateesh
liuba
Liuba no less! lol. and this isn't quite a ghetto name, but it could be used as one--Lyliana. I love love looooove that name.
I was thinking about it and Liuba sounds like it could be African, though I'm not sure.
Kaneil
Shantanique.
Shantanique? Seriously? I've made things like that up before, but never thought people would actually name their kids such things! wow, colour me amazed!
Yeah, I had a classmate named Shantanique when I was in the third and fourth grades.
Zareetha I heard it on tv this morning.
zareetha! That's sounds like a disease or something.
lol, it kind of does, doesn't it?
I saw a white girl on tv this morning named Manisha, I was shocked!
I went to school with a girl named Burghendy, and I lived in a low income neighborhood when I was younger, and one of the girls in my fifth grade class was named Tamara. She had three younger brothers named yestaday, tanite (pronounced ta night), and taday.
Also one of my cousins had a beast friend named wayne, and wayne's sister's name was constance, she had two daughters and named that atlanta and pacifica.
I really wish I was kidding.
just...wow.
Um ... I don't really know how to react to that. I mean, those are things you just don't do, names you just don't give people! That's sinful!
Anyway, I saw this girl on a talk show this morning named Rayniece. And in school a couple days ago, Abblalonni was called over the loud speaker. Today inc class, my teacher was on the phone talking about this girl QuinTina. And lastly, I saw a woman named Noriece on Judge Mathess.
That Abblalonni person had to be foreign, if not, something's too very wrong.
I just heard the name ElNora on a court show.
Abalone is actually a color--I think it's the color of a certain kind of shell, can't remembr--and it's very pretty. So I'd think that if your parents named you Abalone, it'd be more of a compliment than a sinful thing lol.
not sure if it was mentioned here before, but Shantique and also, I think I heard Leshantavia
I heard Lakeisha and LaWhonda today.
Fuckin' Lashantavia no less! Oh, whatever shall we do? lol now that's sinful. Poor girl.
I heard Uniquia on Judge Mathess yesterday. I just couldn't help but exclaim ... wow!
Radonna and Labretta are two names I heard this morning on Judge Pero.
volonna
Some 'ghetto' names are perfectly legitimate Arabic (Tariq, Rashida) names, others are Hebrew in their origin, like one girl I knew some years ago named 'Tamika'. I kind of pity kids with monikers like DeShaun, Keisha, one ignorant mom even named her daughter 'Shaytanya'. 'Shaytan' in Arabic is Satan. I just can't see wanting to identify myself with a rough and tumble neighborhood or single female headed households, some with multiple sperm donors.
Bonequita
Okay, so this name is not ghetto, but it is rather unique. I saw this girl on TV named Genesis.
I heard the girl behind me on the bus on her phone talking about some chick named Quandrisha today.
I heard the name Lavonda today.
I heard the name Angelett today.
laTanda, Joeneesha, and Jesseca, pronounced JaSeeka
And today while I sat in the beauty shop, the salon owner talked about her son JaBay.
Any and everyone have your barf buckets ready? Good good...ok, here goes. Any of you sports fans remember a Tampa Bay Buccaneer gone San Francisco 49er named Curtis Buckley? I used to work with a skank who became pregnant by him to manipulate a marriage, and surprise surprise it didn't work. Poor child's ghetto name? Martavious Devon, pronounced 'de VON'. Blech...
wow, to all of the above, really. not cool.
Kanasia, Letista, Afeesha and Shatilla.
Hmm. I just thought of this one, don't know if it counts, but it's Olivia.
it doesn't.
I heard the name Tiani today.
wow. that sounds pretty ghetto, but it can't compare with some of the other names list on this board.
Or maybe this one: Unitedstatesofamericanicia?
that's not an actual name of a person, is it? Lordy.
The two names I heard on court shows recently: AiLeeah and LaRagan.
Pass the gag bags...an unfortunately dead child whose name was "Liquarry". Egg donor lived with her five kids by three different dads, and little Liquarry was acidentally I guess shot to death by cousin. Egg donor seemed more relieved to be acquitted of charges in his murder than in the fact that her son was dead. Liquarry?! What the (bleep) kind of name is that? Maybe we need a baby naming law in this country, like in Denmark, where a parent's name choice may be rejected & said parents need to go back to the drawing board.
I am so down with the Danes on that law!!
Shandray, JaLiece, and Chevaughn
So, Yesterday, I hurd "braquecia" bra fucken quecia... *sighs*
others i've herd: zequisha (pronounced za qwe sha) laria (la ria)
Shit, I think i've figured out how people doo this shit.
Ok, think of shake and bake chicken/porkchops.
The first thing people have to choose in their minds when makeing these names is how long/the structure or "flow" will be.
Next, they drop this into their mind, like the chicken/pork/beefe into a bag of shake and bake, mix well and...
See what ever the fuck comes out.
Tiani's actually sorta pretty. I met a girl named Liani once.
Martavious Devon...just, oh my god, that poor kid.
Oh, my god spongebob. That's really sad. I feel sorry for that poor little girl. I'm not usually superstitious but that child is either going to be pure fucking evil or have the worst luck imaginable.
And poor little kid, can you imagine, Liquarry...
Oh james lmaoo just, wow.
I might have mentioned this before but I met this kid who's actual name, I kid you not, was Dominique Kahlilikani.
......
......
wow. where's that from?
Some years ago, working near Tampa's "Suitcase City" neighborhood, where a lot of black folk live, I had a female co-worker whose out of wedlock son was named "Javaris". Especially amusing since I heard it pronounced "Jabarry". All I could think is What is he, a child or an elephant? It sounds like the old "Babar the Elephant" books my kid brother read.
wow. that last one was...um, odd?
Topeka
Willneesha
Aquamarina
Quintasia
omg some of these names... the newest VI teacher from my county is named Randa. uggg Seriously.
Try these on for size...
zlexandrilia pronounced z-lex-andralia, ricksema, beniki, quonya, vertia, rati, pronounced ver tia and ra tia they're sisters, got another one, shakika, sha keka
Tilaisha, tidaisha, pronounced ty-laysha and ty-daysha, twin cousins of mine
My sister's roommate's name is Luba. What the fuck?
"Tamara" is a Hebrew name in the Old Testament. I kind of like it, most common nickname for this one is "Tammy".
Luba? Add an "i" after the b and you'll have the Arabic name for a bean soup or stew. I think but don't hold me to it "lubia" means "beans" in that language. That was the same thought I had when I saw the name "Liuba".
Some of the new hipsters will start calling their kids K8 FWB and deliberately give them initials that make their name Lmfao.
Girls:
Shalaydrian, A'Yana, Sharmisha pronounced sharm eesha, Johnisha pronounced John eesha, Ija, Sanaya, Tanaya, Brentny, Jaisenique, Doritha, Marneta, Da'lisa pronounced Da Lisa, Sorayah
Boys:
Markell, keldrick, Tedarius, Trevion pronounced Trev e yon, Christon pronounced Crist on
oh wow; some of those last ones are interesting!! poor kids.
Of all the ghetto names I've heard, this one takes the cake: Zaire. That's right a boy born Friday and given the name of a defunct third world nation robbed blind by its dictator, now the 'Democratic Republic of the Congo'. Zaire. ?!?! I could see the Arabic, 'Zahir', which means 'great' or 'grand', but Zaire?! Blech...
first up. takin' the 5th
don't shoot me
]]Kw- - - ///'a [think maybe mis-speddded ]] ]]
Song, comes to mind
We're building up and tearing down
'cause we're solid
solid like a ----
B-zhorn, shaniqua, latisha, shaquanisha
funny how a lot of girl names end with an A. haha
I've heard Shatanya, Lashanda, Shaniqua (pronounced shaneequa), and deja (pronounced dasia)
I've probably heard a lot more, but can't think of them at the moment.
Maybe this doesn't really count since it's not an actual name, but there's a woman named Elizabeth at work who some of us sometimes call ElizzleBizzle.
lol interesting...
Deja...excuse me while I die laughing. Did the mom who gave her daughter this name know it means "already" in French, like "Deja vu", or "already seen"? Another one I heard actually isn't that bad in Arabic, the name "Farida" or "Farid" for the boys means "unique". But translate the name to English? I thought the name "Unique" sounded stupid when I met a woman by that name.
All the new black girl names ending with icia or eesha or whatever; Laticia, Lateesha, Verniicia, etc., to me all sound like names of exotic bird species.
Some from the ghettos do have more the raucous sound of a psitocene (parrot) as well, though I doubt you see them cracking palm nuts with their beaks.
hahaha. And no, I didn't know that's what Deja meant.
These poor ladies and gentlemen. My friend's husband threatened to name their first daughter...lol...hoo deefia! But seriously, some of these names sound like the medications you see comercials about; you know, with more side effects than benefits? They should just give in and name their daughter cymbalta ginkgobiloba Jackson!
rofl. jeez chippie.
Has anyone mention Tashanaliqua yet?
Not shitting you.
I didn't read every one of the posts, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating some names.
To the person who thought the name Luba was strange, in Eastern europe it can be the diminutive for Lubomira, the feminine of Lubomir, which happens to be the name of my cat and who I usually call Lubo for short, or Loob for very short.
I have a friend in England who works for a women's shelter, and she was telling me that one day she was talking to a client who mentioned that she named her daughter Chlamydia because she liked the sound of it! Maybe her next kid will be named gonorrhea!
I once had a boss who was a real bitch named Waridi. People called her Ree-Ree, but I called her Ree-Tard!
I knew of a girl named Quanadeous who went by Kwan-Aide, also of a girl named Nafateria. Worked with a woman named Sikeithea, but she wanted to be known as Toni. Can't say I blame her…
Chlamydia? Seriously? I can't even imagine how much psychological damage that name will cause the poor girl as she grows up.
